Gabriel "Asheru" Benn serves as the Founding President and Senior Education Consultant at Guerilla Arts Ink, LLC since January 2005, advising Washington, DC government agencies on creating culturally-responsive communities through place-making projects. In addition, Asheru has been a Faculty member at ASCD since 2017, developing methodologies for equitable instructional practices nationwide. Prior roles include Director of Arts Integration and Arts & Technology Academy for District of Columbia Public Schools from 2011 to 2014, and Director of Arts in Education & Transition Services at Rock Creek Academy from 2002 to 2007. Asheru's teaching experience spans from First Grade Teacher to Special Education Teacher across various schools, with a strong focus on cultural responsiveness and student achievement. Educational credentials include an Executive Certificate in Arts & Culture Strategy from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master's Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from National Louis University, and a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology from the University of Virginia.
