Simon Zhang has worked in the tech industry since 1999. Simon began their career as a Software Engineer at eGroups in 1999. In 2000, they became a Software Engineer at HomeGain and a Technical Yahoo! at Yahoo!. Simon then worked as an Independent Contractor in 2001. From 2003 to 2010, they held various roles at HomeGain, including Engineering Manager, Systems Engineering Manager, and Senior Software Engineer. From 2010 to present, they have worked as a Software Engineer at Amyris Inc. and an Independent Consultant at Amyris.

Simon Zhang attended the University of California, Berkeley from 1994 to 1999, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science.
