Mercedes Murua has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Mercedes is currently the CTO and Co-Founder at The Plant Pathways Company, a position they have held since December 2019. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Consultant at Nouvelle France Genetics, starting in May 2019.
Before joining Nouvelle France Genetics, Mercedes held various roles at Syngenta. Mercedes served as the Wheat Genetics and Analytics Team Lead from November 2017 to March 2019. Mercedes began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Purdue University, where they worked from June 2000 to June 2002. Before that, they were a Research Assistant in Plant Physiology at the University of Buenos Aires from January 1994 to February 1999. Additionally, they worked as a Science Teacher at Manuel Alberti School from March 1997 to January 1999.

Mercedes Murua earned a Master's degree in Agronomy with a specialization in Plant Physiology from Purdue University. Mercedes attended Purdue from 2000 to 2002. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate education at the University of Buenos Aires, where they obtained a degree in Agronomy Engineering with a focus on Plant Physiology and Genetics. Mercedes studied at the University of Buenos Aires from 1994 to 1999. In addition to their academic qualifications, Mercedes Murua has also obtained a certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in February 2019.
