Mike Cranwell has a diverse work experience that spans over several years. Mike started their career in 2005 as a London Area Scout/Recruiter for various Jr. B and D Hockey Clubs. From 2010 to 2020, they worked as a Manager at Spartan Nutrition. In 2015, Mike became the Owner of Phoenix Martial Arts, where they designed a martial arts and self-defense program focusing on instilling self-confidence and teaching life lessons. In 2021, they transitioned to the role of a Recruiter at both Corel Corporation and Alludo. Currently, Mike is employed as a Sports Columnist at The Hockey Writers, starting in 2023.

Mike Cranwell holds a Diploma in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies from Niagara College. Mike furthered their education by pursuing a Post-Graduate degree in Human Resources Management and Services at Fanshawe College from 2020 to 2021.

In addition to their formal education, Mike has obtained various certifications. Mike completed the "Critical Thinking for Better Judgment and Decision-Making" course from LinkedIn in December 2022. Mike also achieved the designation of Certified Human Resources Professional from HRPA - Human Resources Professionals Association in October 2021.

Furthermore, Mike has completed several Microsoft Word certifications, including the "Microsoft Word 2019 Expert Exam (MO-101) Training Course" from Udemy, the "Microsoft Word Expert (Microsoft 365 Apps and Office 2019)" certification from Microsoft, and the "Microsoft Word (Microsoft 365 Apps and Office 2019)" certification, all obtained in 2021. Additionally, they obtained the Microsoft Office Specialist: Excel Associate certification in December 2020.

In terms of other certifications, Mike holds a 4th Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo since June 2019. Mike has also completed the Coach Stream 1 and Speak Out Anti-Harassment certifications from Hockey Canada in September 2007.

Finally, Mike has certifications as a Certified Personal Trainer Specialist and a Certified Sports Nutritionist from ExpertRating Inc., although specific dates of completion are not provided.
