Ye-Hyun Kim has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and research roles. Ye-Hyun is currently a Scientist II at Akouos, a position they have held since February 2022. Before that, they worked as a Scientist at Akouos from April 2020 to January 2022. Prior to joining Akouos, Ye-Hyun Kim was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Johns Hopkins Medicine from September 2014 to April 2020, where they conducted research on stress/anxiety and hearing loss, structural changes in cochlear brainstem neurons, and phenotyping inner-ear transgenic mouse models. Ye-Hyun also served as a Teaching Fellow for the "Biology of the Inner Ear" course at Marine Biological Laboratory in August 2015, where they assisted in teaching and performing techniques demonstrations. Before that, they worked as a Doctoral Candidate at Boston Children's Hospital from July 2011 to August 2014, where they conducted research on cochlear receptor cells and auditory neurons. Prior to that, they were a Graduate Researcher at the University of Virginia from August 2008 to June 2011, where they developed recording techniques and investigated inner ear mechano-transduction channels. Ye-Hyun also has experience as a Director of Neuroscience Laboratory at Baldwin Wallace University from July 2007 to June 2008, and as a Senior Independent Study researcher at The College of Wooster from August 2006 to April 2007. Ye-Hyun conducted neurobehavioral studies and received funding for their research. Ye-Hyun Kim started their research career as an HHMI Research Scholar at Howard Hughes Medical Institute from 2005 to 2006, where they studied bacterial pathogens and conducted in-vivo studies.

Ye-Hyun Kim completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/Neuroscience from The College of Wooster. Ye-Hyun then pursued their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Neuroscience at the University of Virginia, which was completed between 2008 and 2014. During this time, they also engaged in Doctoral Research at Harvard Medical School from 2011 to 2014.
