Sumio Maeda is an accomplished executive with extensive experience in the food and chemical industries. Currently, Sumio serves as Executive Officer and Vice President, General Manager of the Bio and Fine Chemicals Division at Ajinomoto Co., Inc., overseeing all non-food businesses within the Ajinomoto Group since April 2022. Previously, Sumio held multiple leadership roles, including President and CEO of Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. from January 2019 to April 2022, and Vice President for South East and South Asia at AJINOMOTO SEA REGIONAL HEAD QUARTERS CO., LTD. from July 2016 to December 2018. Earlier experience includes positions such as Associate General Manager in Business Strategy & Development, Director of Food Ingredients in EMEA, Global FMCG Marketing Business Unit Manager, and New Product Development Group Manager at Ajinomoto Frozen Foods. Sumio Maeda graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Economics from Keio University and completed open enrollment programs in Marketing and Management at Columbia Business School.
