Barbara Stewart

CSBG/LIHEAP Community Services Program Director at AJFC Community Action Agency

Barbara Stewart has a diverse work experience spanning several decades. Barbara began their career in 1974 as the Summer Youth Director at AJFC Community Action Agency, Inc., where they successfully managed the day-to-day operations of the program. Barbara was responsible for writing the proposal, ensuring the program goals and objectives were met, managing the budget, maintaining partnerships with local worksites, and submitting necessary documents.

In 1985, Barbara transitioned into the role of Administrative Assistant to the Chief Executive Officer at AJFC Community Action Agency, Inc. Barbara provided administrative support to the CEO and performed similar tasks as their previous role.

In 2010, Barbara took on the position of CSBG/LIHEAP Community Services Program Director at Ajfc Community Action Agency. Barbara took on various responsibilities such as submitting proposals, managing program budgets, providing training and assistance to program staff, supervising case management staff, acting as the Point of Contact with the funding agency, approving client payments, and coordinating the Commodity Food Program. Additionally, they served as the agency Coordinator for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Program, providing free income tax services throughout Southwest Mississippi.

Barbara Stewart completed their Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Secretarial Science at Copiah-Lincoln Community College in 1985. Prior to that, they studied Business Administration and Management, General at Jackson State University from 1977 to 1982. Additionally, Barbara attended Alcorn State University for an unspecified period of time, where they pursued General Studies.
