Christopher Butler

Director of Engineering at Aidn

Christopher Butler has extensive work experience in engineering and management roles. Christopher is currently the Director of Engineering at Aidn, where they are responsible for leading a team of staff engineers, tech leads, and senior software developers. Prior to Aidn, Christopher held the position of Engineering Manager | Principal Engineer at Instabox, where they coached and mentored engineers, built and scaled high-performing teams, and advocated engineering best practices. Christopher also served as an Engineering Manager at Porterbuddy, where they played a similar role. Before transitioning to management positions, Christopher worked as an Engineering Manager | Solution Architect at Accenture and as a Software Developer at Olavstoppen AS. Christopher also gained experience as a Software Product Manager at Proximity AS, a Senior Project Engineer at Subsea 7, and a Project Engineer at DOF Subsea. Christopher began their career as a Systems Engineer at Neptune Marine Services and as a Graduate Electrical Engineer at Hatch.

Christopher Butler completed their Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Memorial University of Newfoundland between 2001 and 2008. Christopher then pursued further education, earning a degree in Software Product Management from the University of Alberta from 2016 to 2017. In 2018 to 2019, Christopher obtained another degree in Software Design and Architecture, also from the University of Alberta, focusing on Computer Software Engineering.

Additionally, Christopher holds several certifications, including a UX Certificate from Nielsen Norman Group obtained in March 2020, an AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services obtained in December 2020, and a Scrum Master Certified (SMC) from Scrum Alliance obtained in June 2019. Christopher also possesses an IRATA International Level I Industrial Rope Access Technician certification, although the details of the institution and date obtained were not provided.
