Matthew Orton has worked in the robotics and software engineering fields since 2014. Matthew began their career as an Undergraduate Technical Intern at SanDisk in 2014, followed by a Software Engineering Intern at Tesla Motors in 2015. In 2017, they worked as a Research Assistant at the MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL) and a Robotic Software Engineering Extern at Vecna. Matthew then moved to Boston Dynamics as a Roboticist in 2018, and is currently a Senior Software Engineer - Manipulation at Agility Robotics since 2022.

Matthew Orton completed their high school education at Los Altos High School in 2012, where they earned a diploma. Matthew then attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in 2016. Following this, they completed a Master of Engineering in Artificial Intelligence from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2018.
