Rakesh Paliwal has a diverse and extensive work experience in various industries. Rakesh began their career at Hindustan Zinc in 1986, where they served as an Engineer and later became a Senior Engineer. During their time there, they played a key role in the transfer of bulk mining technology from Inco Tech Canada to India.

Paliwal then joined MP Birla Cement in 1995 as Deputy Manager, where they were responsible for planning, organizing, and coordinating mining and material handling activities. Rakesh also contributed to the improvement of hydraulic circuits for Demag Excavators.

In 1996, Paliwal moved to Binani Cement Ltd, where they started as a Manager and eventually became the Head of Mining. Rakesh played a significant role in the commissioning of a greenfield cement plant and introduced innovative marketing practices and efficient operations in the cement sector.

Continuing their career progression, Paliwal joined Hindalco Industries Limited in 2004 as a Senior General Manager. Rakesh was involved in the complete conceptualization and execution of bauxite mining projects, securing necessary clearances, land acquisition, and rail infrastructure development.

In 2008, Paliwal joined MAYTAS LTD as an Associate Vice President, where they evaluated mining opportunities in various countries, including Chile, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and Indonesia for copper, iron ore, and coal.

Following this, Paliwal joined Dalmia Bharat Group in 2009 as the Dy. Executive Director of Mining, Geology, and Project Incubation. Rakesh played a crucial role in the company's expansion, identifying and pursuing acquisition and greenfield plant opportunities for cement production.

Paliwal's most recent position was with Aditya Birla Group, where they held several roles. Rakesh started as the Senior Vice President of the Resource Group in 2010 and then became the Joint President of the Resource Group, Head of Strategy & Business Development in 2015. Most recently, they served as the President, Head of Strategy & Business Development, and Head of the Bunder Diamond Project & Sustainability. In these positions, they formulated long-range strategic plans, identified and evaluated business opportunities in various countries and commodities, and led the inorganic growth and development of the company.

Rakesh Paliwal completed an Executive Management Program in Leading Strategic Growth and Change at Columbia Business School in 2022. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mining Engineering from M.B.M. Engineering College, Jodhpur, from 1980 to 1985. In 1990 to 1991, they pursued a PGDM in Business Administration and Management, General from Indira Gandhi National Open University. Furthermore, they obtained a First Class Managers Certificate of Competency (UR) from the Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of India in 1994.
