Terrence Lee

Research Associate - Protein Engineering at Zymo Research

Terrence Lee has worked in various roles since 2018. Terrence began their career as an Undergraduate Structural Biochemistry Researcher at Chapman University, where they researched under Dr. Cedric Owens to study the structure and function of CowN protein in protecting the enzyme nitrogenase of G. diazotrophicus bacteria from carbon monoxide inhibition. Terrence also served as the Academic Coordinator for the American Chemical Society Chapter, arranged for a presentation on research into identifying the dangerous mistakes commonly made in rejected graduate applications, was a member of the Schmid Student Leadership Council, and acted as the Secretary for the Tri-Beta Chapter. Additionally, they worked as a Supplemental Grader for Organic Chemistry Lab and a Student Notetaker. In 2018, they also began working as a Biochemistry Researcher at California State University, Fullerton, where they researched under Dr. Madeline Rasche in structural biochemistry to optimize the extraction purity and quantity of DmrX, an enzyme that is part of the methane production in Methanosarcina mazei archaea. Terrence also trained incoming lab members on protocol and research theory, creating documents on these protocols and theories to improve training. In 2022, they began working as a Research Associate - Protein Engineering at Zymo Research Corp.

Terrence Lee attended Villa Park High School from 2013 to 2017 and graduated with a High School Diploma. Terrence then attended Chapman University from 2017 to 2021, where they earned a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry.
