Kari Frantzen

Associate Director, Project Management at Zymeworks

Kari Frantzen has a diverse work experience spanning over 15 years. Kari currently works as an Associate Director of Project Management at Zymeworks Inc., where they have been since 2020. Prior to their current role, they served as a Senior Project Manager and Project Manager in the Discovery Research department of the same company.

From 2019 to 2020, Kari worked as an Independent Quality & Regulatory Consultant, providing their expertise to various clients. Before that, they had a long tenure at BC Cancer from 2013 to 2020, where they held the position of Quality Manager for Functional Imaging. During their time at BC Cancer, Kari successfully transformed a research-based laboratory into a licensed GMP facility for the production and quality control testing of PET radiopharmaceuticals.

Kari's career also includes roles at Sorin Group as a Senior Regulatory Affairs Specialist from 2012 to 2013 and at Nordion as a Quality Assurance Specialist from 2009 to 2012. At Nordion, they supported the administration and maintenance of Quality Management Systems for medical isotopes, radiotherapy, and sterilization products, ensuring compliance with GMP, ISO 9001, and GLP.

Additionally, Kari worked at Nordion as a Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs Coordinator from 2008 to 2009 and as a Quality Assurance and Training Coordinator from 2006 to 2008. Kari started their career as a Laboratory Chemist at ALS Environmental in 2006, where they performed organic extractions and analysis on environmental samples.

Overall, Kari Frantzen has a strong background in project management, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, with extensive experience in the biotechnology and healthcare industries.

Kari Frantzen has an Advanced Certificate in Regulatory Affairs from San Diego State University. Prior to that, Kari obtained an MBA in Management of Technology from Simon Fraser University. Kari's education journey started with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from the University of Victoria.
