Olaf Melchior is an accomplished data professional with extensive experience in data management and engineering, currently serving as the Director of Data Platform at Zalando since October 2012. In this role, Olaf leads departments focused on data management and intelligence, overseeing the development of curated data products and governance processes while managing a large user base. Responsibilities encompass the implementation of central analytics infrastructure and cloud-based data projects, with past roles including Head of Data Warehousing and Lead BI Technology. Prior experience includes a tenure at MYTOYS GROUP, where Olaf was involved in extending Oracle E-Business Suite capabilities and developing interfaces for e-commerce solutions. Olaf holds a Master’s degree in Philosophy, Sociology, and Economics from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics at Fernuniversität Hagen.
