Phil O'Malley has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. Phil currently serves as the Chief Technology Officer at Zai since September 2021, and previously held the same position at CurrencyFair.com since October 2020.
Prior to these roles, Phil was the Director of Engineering at Travelport Locomote from July 2018 to September 2020. Here, they led the Technology team in delivering various Booking Platforms, focusing on people management, technology roadmap, budget planning, and agile transformation.
From June 2017 to April 2018, Phil worked as the Director of Engineering at Fenergo, leading the Engineering team in the Research & Development group. Phil'sresponsibilities included scaling the R&D Engineering team and ensuring effective collaboration with other Fenergo groups.
Before that, Phil worked at Dun & Bradstreet as a Senior Software Engineering Manager from an unspecified date in 2014 to June 2017. Phil was responsible for leading the development of an API service from a proof of concept to a scalable, multi-endpoint service in 18 months, while also supporting their team with tools, training, and resources.
At Citi, Phil served as a Software Development Manager from November 2012 to June 2014. Here, they led the design, development, and rollout of a Pilot Mobile Payments Solution in China and India.
Phil also has experience at Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, where they held various roles including Platform Development Manager and Software Development Team Lead from 2009 to 2012. In these roles, they managed multiple development teams, supported the design and development of eLearning applications, and led high-volume web apps.
Further back, Phil worked as a J2EE Software Consultant at Meridian VAT Reclaim from August 2008 to February 2009, and as a J2EE Technical Project Manager and Senior Java Developer at The Northern Trust from 2002 to 2008.

Phil O'Malley completed their education at three different institutions. Phil started their academic journey in 1983 at Summerhill College, where they obtained their Leaving Cert degree. Phil then attended University College Dublin from 1988 to 1992, specializing in Project Management and obtaining a B Mech Eng degree. In 2010, Phil returned to University College Dublin to pursue an MBA degree. During their two-year period of study, they focused on subjects such as Innovation, Strategy, IT Project Management, Financial Accounting, and General Management Theory. In addition to their formal education, Phil O'Malley obtained the Certified SAFe® 5 Program Consultant certification from Scaled Agile, Inc. in December 2020.
