Terry R. Tinsley

VP, Residential Program Services at Youth For Tomorrow

Dr. Tinsley joined Youth For Tomorrow in March of 1997 as its first full time professional counselor. Following his arrival, he developed a professional counseling program for YFT residents and subsequently a Clinical Services Team consisting of licensed clinical psychologists, registered nurses, case managers, and a psychiatrist. Dr. Tinsley was appointed Assistant Vice President for Programs in 2016 and became responsible for the Clinical Services programs including Out Patient Services, Substance Abuse Services and Therapeutic Day Treatment programs.

Prior to joining YFT, Dr. Tinsley worked for the Dallas/Fort Worth Medical Center in their dual diagnosis adolescent psychiatric unit. His other areas of service have included out-patient counseling centers, Charter Hospital, an in-patient substance abuse treatment program, and two years with the Southern Baptist International Mission Board serving in Mali, West Africa.

Dr. Tinsley has served on the Prince William County Family Assessment and Planning Team (FAPT), Community Policy and Management Team (CPMT), Northern Virginia Coalition of Private Providers (NOVACO) and served on the Boards of the Virginia Coalition of Private Provider Associations (VCOPPA), and for the Virginia Association of Childrenā€™s Homes (VACH), and is serving his third term on the Virginia Board of Counseling (appointed by Governors McDonnell, McAuliffe, and Northam). Dr. Tinsley is also an appointed member of the Prince William County DSS Board of Advisors.

A Mississippi native, Dr. Tinsley graduated from William Carey College with a degree in Psychology, Southwestern Baptist Seminary with a degree in Marriage and Family Counseling and Walden University with a PhD in Counseling Psychology. Dr. Tinsley is also credentialed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT),National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP).
