Claudia Toussaint is Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources and Sustainability Officer. In this role, she is responsible for leading the global human resources, legal and compliance functions at Xylem as well as the company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) approach.
In 2019, Xylem expanded its sustainability strategy based on new 2025 goals that advance sustainability through its customer solutions that clean and manage water, its company practices, and its humanitarian efforts for communities around the world.
Prior to joining Xylem in 2014, Ms. Toussaint served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Barnes Group Inc., an international industrial and aerospace manufacturer and service provider. She also served as General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Ethics Officer for Embarq Corporation, a telecommunications company that was spun-off from Sprint Nextel. Previously, she held several positions of increasing responsibility at Sprint Nextel's predecessor companies. She started her career as an attorney at Morrison & Forrester LLP, an international law firm.
Ms. Toussaint serves on the UCLA Advisory Board for Social Sciences as well as the Selection Committee for the UCLA William Sharpe Fellows Program. In 2020, she was named to media organization City & State’s Above & Beyond list, recognizing women in the public sector who have made notable contributions to society. Ms. Toussaint was recognized with a 2017 Innovative Leader’s Award for General Counsel by Women, Influence & Power in Law, and a 2017 Top General Counsel award by First Chair for significant contributions to the legal community. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Juris Doctor degree from University of California, Hastings College of the Law, in San Francisco.
