Johannes Bachhuber has worked in various roles in the tech industry since 2012. In 2012, they were a Research Intern at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where they developed a simulation of the movement of the cantilever of an atomic force microscope (AFM) across a surface. In 2013, they worked as a Working Student at BTC - Business Technology Consulting AG, where they built the initial version of an iOS app for checking in guests at trade fairs and also contributed to the ongoing development of several web projects. In 2016, they were a Technical Lead and Software Developer at the MIT Center for Collective Intelligence, where they worked on the Climate CoLab project. That same year, they were also a Guest Lecturer at International University Bremen, where they taught a yearly block course on "Digital Entrepreneurship and Web Design". In 2018, they were Co-Founder & CTO of XO Life, where they were building the largest Patient Insights Platform for all kinds of medicines and treatments, and they were also a Web Developer at Sympatient GmbH, where they built the company website.
Johannes Bachhuber completed their International Baccalaureate (IB Diploma) at Shanghai American School from 2009-2011. Johannes then attended the University of Liverpool for one year, earning a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science in 2012. From 2012-2014, they attended Jacobs University Bremen and received a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Computer Science. Johannes also completed an Honours Degree in Technology Management from the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) from 2014-2016. In 2015-2016, they were a Visiting Student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Finally, they earned a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Informatics from the Technical University of Munich in 2014-2017.
