Nurzian Bernsel Ismail has a diverse work experience in the biopharmaceutical and research fields. Starting in 1999, they had a scientific internship at AstraZeneca. After that, they worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory from 2006 to 2009. Following this, they joined Stockholm University as a post-doctoral researcher from 2009 to 2013. In 2013, they joined Xbrane Biopharma AB as a senior scientist until 2016. During their time at Xbrane Biopharma AB, they also held the positions of principal scientist for a short period and later became the head of downstream process development.
Nurzian Bernsel Ismail's education history started in 1997 when they attended Imperial College London. They pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Biotechnology with a year in Industry, completing it in 2001. Following this, Ismail enrolled at The University of Manchester in 2001 and completed their education there in 2005. They earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in the field of Biochemistry.
