Shivy Yohanandan began their professional career in 2004 as a Customer Service Representative at Bankwest. Shivy then moved to Telstra in 2005 as a Technology Support Specialist. In 2006, they became an International Travel Consultant at Flight Centre Travel Group. In 2010, they began working at SimplerSoft as a Software Architect. Shivy's duties included designing captivating presentations, brainstorming solutions to high-level software design, preparing clarification and technical specification documentation, programming using Zoho's Deluge script, database and interface design, meetings and presentations with clients, and using a wide-range of online project management and software development tools. In 2012, they became a Researcher at the Bionics Institute, where they worked on medical bionics research, focused particularly on neural prostheses. In 2013, they were a Tutor at the University of Melbourne for a first-year engineering subject. In 2016, Shivy began working at IBM as a Researcher. Most recently, in 2019, they became the Chief Technology Officer at Xailient Inc., an AI software company that specializes in putting cloud capable AI on impossibly small devices and chips.
Shivy Yohanandan completed a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) with a double major in Neuroscience and Bioengineering from the University of Melbourne between 2011 and 2014. Following this, they completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Melbourne in 2015. Finally, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Artificial Intelligence from RMIT University between 2016 and 2019.
