Michael Shelly began their career in 1983 as a Manager at Herb Lack Paints and Hardware, where they worked until 1995. In 1995, they transitioned to World Relief as the IT Director, a role they continue to hold.

Michael Shelly attended Houghton University from 1986 to 1989, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in History.
