James Van Rens is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in the geospatial industry. Currently serving as an Advisory Committee Member at the U.S. Geological Survey since August 2022, James has also held significant roles at RIEGL INTERNATIONAL, including Strategic Advisor for the RIEGL Group and Senior Vice President, where contributions focus on high-performance LiDAR systems. In addition to board involvement with the World Geospatial Industry Council as a Patron Board Member, James previously served on the MAPPS Board of Directors until July 2021. James has a strong leadership background, having been CEO of RIEGL USA from May 2009 to July 2015 and Vice President from 1997 to 2009. Educational qualifications include a BA/BS from Marquette University (1970-1974).
