Hugo Suarez developed a talent for drafting during high school in Colombia. Sketching by hand – a method he still uses today – Hugo was encouraged to pursue architecture by a teacher as a teenager. Fueled by a passion for learning, he continued his practice in addition to learning an entirely new language and culture when his family relocated to the United States. Years later, Hugo has developed a penchant for modern architecture, especially highly customized, high-end residential designs. He sees projects as the sum of many details, emphasizing the technical possibilities and practical elements within a space. His organized, methodical nature has allowed him to balance an array of project types and build a wide-ranging portfolio, joining Workshop/APD following seven years at Barnes Coy Architects. Hugo holds a Bachelors of Architecture degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
