Maureen Buxton has over 20 years of work experience in creative leadership roles. Maureen is currently the Executive Creative Director at Workhuman, where they oversee an in-house agency of 30+ designers, writers, and production artists. Their responsibilities include managing creative strategy, brand development, and executional support across the organization. Maureen also focuses on improving creative culture, establishing cross-functional partnerships, and implementing workflow processes. Prior to this role, Maureen was the Creative Director for Branding & Advertising at Workhuman, where they developed branded creative campaigns and assets and led the creative strategy and implementation for e-commerce promotional campaigns.
Before joining Workhuman, Maureen worked at Indigo Studios as the Principal Creative Director and later as the Co Creative Director. During their time at Indigo Studios, they directed a wide range of creative deliverables for clients ranging from small businesses to global megabrands and IPOs, such as Siemens, Ziploc, Sephora, Marvel, and Disney. Maureen also led the rebranding of the agency and managed the redesign and content development of their website.
Prior to Indigo Studios, Maureen worked at Hasbro as an Art Director, where they led the creative governance and volume management of various toy brands, maintained licensor partnerships, and managed vendors contributing to executional work. Maureen was also responsible for conceptualizing and executing the brand vision across packaging, event space design, and presentations.
Maureen's career in the creative industry began at Toth Brand Imaging, where they started as an Assistant Art Director and later worked as a Studio Artist. In these roles, they developed campaign concepts, directed photoshoots, designed agency collateral, and conducted research on trends and competitors in the consumer lifestyle brand market.
Prior to their professional career, Maureen worked as a Design Consultant for Freelance Graphic Arts, providing brand development, logo design, and prepress and production capabilities. Maureen also worked as a Senior Designer at Simard Printing, where they designed logos, collateral, signage, and apparel for a variety of clients, with a focus on local and national political campaigns.
Maureen's first job was as a Direct Care Staff worker at the Center of Hope Foundation, where they provided support for adults and children with disabilities.
Throughout their career, Maureen has demonstrated strong leadership skills, creative direction, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams and client relationships.
Maureen Buxton earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree with a dual major in Graphic Design and Animation from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. This educational achievement occurred between 1998 and 2003. Prior to attending the university, they completed their undergraduate high school diploma from Holy Name CCHS. During their time at Holy Name CCHS, Maureen focused on a four-year art program.
