Y. Wayne Wu has a diverse range of work experience in the field of user experience research. Y. Wayne began their career as a Research Intern at Technicolor, where they worked on text-mining projects. Later, they interned as a Software Engineer at Facebook.

Wayne then joined Google as a UX Researcher Intern, where they utilized quantitative and qualitative methods to examine user adoption of Google Fonts. Y. Wayne also conducted interviews with management roles, designers, and developers to gain insights into decision-making processes.

Following their time at Google, Wayne interned at Airbnb as an Experience Researcher, where they conducted studies to explore pain points in hosts' price-setting process. Y. Wayne closely collaborated with product managers, designers, engineers, and data scientists to provide actionable design feedback and future direction suggestions.

Wayne's next role was as a Research Assistant at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, focusing on mitigating the influence of negative valence feedback in online environments. Y. Wayne'sdissertation addressed this issue and aimed to promote a more supportive online environment.

After completing their research assistantship, Wayne joined Serionix, Inc. as a User Experience Researcher Intern before moving on to their current role as a UX Research Manager at Workato.

Y. Wayne Wu completed their education in the following chronological order:

From 2006 to 2010, they attended Bard College and received a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Computer Science.

From 2010 to 2012, they pursued an advanced degree at Stanford University, where they earned a Master of Science (MSc) in Computer Science with a focus on Artificial Intelligence.

Lastly, from 2013 to 2019, they attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Human Computer Interaction.
