Gerard van Bortel is an Assistant Professor of Housing Management and a Researcher of Housing Systems at TU Delft since March 2007. Currently, Gerard serves in various roles, including as a member of the Core Group for Housing, Welfare, and Care at Gemeente Westland, a Coach and Social Guide at VluchtelingenWerk Nederland, and as a board member of multiple housing institutions like Woningstichting Het Grootslag and Woningstichting Rochdale. Gerard actively participates in organizations advocating affordable housing and tenant rights, including the National Tenants' Association and The Midfield. Gerard’s academic background includes a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Delft University of Technology and significant degrees in Organizational Science and Architecture, with a focus on social housing and network governance.
