Jessica Laszewski has a diverse work experience in the media industry. Jessica started their career as a Features Editor and City-Campus Reporter at The Daily Cardinal and later interned at Wisconsin Public Radio. Jessica then worked as a Program Assistant and Research Coordinator at UW Health, where they triaged calls and coordinated appointments, and also gathered data for a neurologist's study.
In 2000, Jessica joined WMTV NBC 15 as a Morning Show Producer before moving on to become a Morning Producer at WBAY-TV, where they selected stories and coordinated production. Jessica then joined WEAU as a Reporter/Producer, where they developed contacts, generated story ideas, and won the Best Documentary award for "Inside the Crime Lab."
Jessica then joined WMTV NBC 15 again in 2000, this time as an intern shadowing news reporters and producers. Jessica then progressed in their career at WMTV NBC 15, serving as an Executive Producer, where they outperformed competing news stations and led the launch of a new format for an evening newscast.
In 2014, they became the News Director at WSAW-TV, managing the news department and receiving statewide recognition as the "Social and Digital Media Operation of the Year." After a year, they moved to WNDU-TV as a News Director, overseeing daily content operations and strategic planning while also leading the 175th Anniversary coverage of "The Notre Dame Trail."
Finally, in 2017, Jessica became the News Director at WMTV NBC 15, managing the newsroom and driving the shift towards a digital-first, multi-platform culture. Under their leadership, the newsroom was recognized as "News Operation of the Year" for four consecutive years by the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association.
Jessica Laszewski attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 1994 to 1999. Jessica earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a double major in Journalism and English/Creative Writing.
