Software Engineer at Otter

Matthew Zheng has a diverse work experience in the field of software engineering. Matthew started their career as a Math Olympiad 2 Instructor at Cary Chinese School, where they taught advanced mathematical concepts to students. Matthew then worked as a Software Developer Intern at PrecisionLender and later as a Software Developer Intern at SAS, where they developed automated build analytics and optimized workflow systems.

Matthew also interned as a Site Reliability Engineering Intern at Google, where they established systems for code coverage analysis. At Capital One, they served as a Technology Intern, designing dashboards and utilizing CI/CD for infrastructure and code deployment. Matthew later became an Associate Software Engineer at Capital One, enhancing and developing endpoint security monitoring tools and building log ingestion and analytics tools.

Matthew gained experience as a Software Engineer Intern at Tesla and then joined Scale AI as a Software Engineer. At Scale AI, they led the creation, design, and implementation of enterprise-grade tooling for data enhancement and annotation for multiple high-value customers.

In 2023, Matthew joined Otter as a Software Engineer.

Matthew Zheng completed their education with a Master's degree in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology, which they pursued from 2021 to 2024. Earlier, from 2016 to 2020, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree specializing in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, and Analytics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to that, Matthew attended the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics from 2014 to 2016 and William G. Enloe High School from 2012 to 2014.

In addition to their formal education, Matthew Zheng has acquired several certifications. Matthew earned a Certified C++ Associate Programmer certification from Pearson VUE in August 2015 and an Amazon Web Services Solutions Architect Associate certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in December 2021. Matthew also holds a Lifeguard Certification from the American Red Cross, obtained in August 2016. Furthermore, they have obtained edX Honor Code Certificates for Classical Mechanics and Electricity and Magnetism from edX, although the specific dates of obtaining these certificates are not available.
