Pete Helland has extensive work experience, starting in 1994 as a Co-Founder at Wilderness Hotel & Golf Resort. In 2007, they became a Managing Partner at Stand Rock Hospitality and Wilderness At The Smokies. Additionally, they served as a Council Member on the Governor's Council on Tourism for the State of Wisconsin from 2014 to 2020.

Pete Helland obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in an unspecified field of study from Yale University between 1984 and 1988. Following that, from 1989 to 1994, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) degree with a focus on Real Estate & Finance at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
