Heather Wainer began their career in 1991 as the Publisher/VP of Media for WholeFoods Magazine, a monthly BPA audited publication. Heather was also responsible for the magazine's two websites. In 2000, they founded Wainer Finest Communications and served as its Owner.

Heather Wainer attended the University of Rhode Island from 1987 to 1991, where they earned a BA. Heather then attended New York University from 1992 to 1994, where they obtained a diploma in publishing.
