Willem M. De Vos has a diverse and extensive work experience.

Willem M. is currently serving as the Scientific Co-Founder at Alba Health since September 2022.

In terms of academic roles, they are a Professor Emeritus at the University of Helsinki and holds the title of Professor of Human Microbiomics from 2016 to 2022. Before that, they were a Professor of Molecular Microbiology from 2007 to 2016.

Willem M. is also a Visiting Professor at the University of Amsterdam since January 2022.

In addition, they were a Professor Emeritus at Wageningen University & Research from 2021, and prior to that, they held the position of Professor Emeritus from 1987 to 2021.

Willem M. played significant roles in various companies and institutions. Willem M. co-founded and served as the CTO of The Akkermansia Company - Belgium since 2018. Willem M. co-founded WholeFiber in 2017 and served as a Scientific Advisor there. Furthermore, they played a key role as the Co-Founder and SAB Chair at Caelus Health from 2012.

Earlier in their career, they served as the Director of the Top Institute Food and Nutrition from 2000 to 2008. Willem M. also worked as the Group Leader Molecular Genetics Lactic Acid Bacteria at NIZO from 1983 to 2000.

Willem M. De Vos completed their Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics (cum laude) from the University of Groningen in 1983.

Willem M. De Vos pursued their education from 1972 to 1982 at the University of Groningen, where they attained a MSc and PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics.
