Justin Benjamin has a variety of work experience in the field of cybersecurity and software engineering. Justin is currently working as a Staff Specialist in Threat Emulation Services at White Oak Security since 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Content Developer at Offensive Security from 2019 to 2021.
From 2015 to 2019, Justin held multiple roles at Target, including Lead Cybersecurity Engineer, Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, and Cybersecurity Engineer.
Before joining Target, Justin worked as a Software Engineer at both Polaris Industries (2013-2015) and Primordial (2010-2015).
Their early career includes roles at St. Cloud State University as a Graduate Student Tech/Database Developer from 2006 to 2010, where they developed and maintained an inventory database, created a secure PHP website to access database information, and developed software packages in Perl and C# for system log-monitoring and data collection.
Justin also has military experience, having served as a Specialist (E-4) in the US Army from 2003 to 2004 after graduating from Basic Training, attending Officer Candidate School, and completing Combat Medic School.
Before their military service, Justin worked as a Student Technician at Ithaca College from 2000 to 2002.
Justin Benjamin completed their education in a chronological order. From 1997 to 2002, they attended Ithaca College and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. Afterwards, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in TESL (pending thesis) from St. Cloud State University, studying from 2006 to 2010. From 2008 to 2011, Justin continued their education at St. Cloud State University, obtaining a Master of Science degree in Computer Science. In addition to their academic qualifications, they acquired several certifications. In 2016, they obtained the Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP) certification, and in 2018, they obtained the Offensive Security Certified Expert (OSCE) certification. Furthermore, they received a Machine Learning certification from Coursera in December 2013 and acquired a certification in Coding the Matrix: Linear Algebra through Computer Science Applications from Coursera in August 2013. Lastly, in November 2016, Justin obtained the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification from (ISC)².
