Matt Markel serves as the Vice President of Indirect Procurement at WestRock Company since July 2015, with prior roles including Director of Capex and Field Procurement Operations. Markel's extensive experience includes leadership positions at RockTenn and Georgia-Pacific LLC, where responsibilities encompassed managing significant procurement budgets, talent development, and implementing cost-saving initiatives. Markel directed procurement strategies and operations across multiple facilities, overseeing teams of up to 175 employees, and contributed to substantial financial savings. Academically, Markel holds a Doctor of Law degree from Mitchell Hamline School of Law, an MBA from Purdue University, and a Master's in International Business Management from ESCP Business School, along with a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University. Additional certifications include Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
