James King has extensive experience in fire and rescue education, currently serving as a teacher for the Fire & Rescue Science Program at Westfield Washington Schools since August 2022. Prior to this role, James was the Department Co-Chair for Career Tech Education at Indianapolis Public Schools from August 2019 to July 2022, where James also taught the Fire & Rescue Science Program. James directed the Public Safety Citizens Academy at the Indy Public Safety Foundation from January 2019 to March 2020, providing community members with insights into local first responders' work. A retired Assistant Director of the Fire Training Division and Captain from the Indianapolis Fire Department, James served from 2010 to 2019 and was involved in multiple roles within the fire department since 1989, including Captain and Division Chief of Operations at the Lawrence Township Fire Department. James began a military career as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1983 to 1987 and holds educational credentials from Lawrence Central High School and Ball State University.
