Greg Hansen

Vice President IT - Infrastructure at Western Area Power Administration

Greg Hansen has extensive work experience in the field of information technology. Greg started their career at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where they served as a missionary from 1980 to 1982. Greg then joined Arizona Public Service (APS) in 1987 and held various roles, including Systems Engineer I, Systems Engineer II, Systems Engineer III, and Senior Security Analyst, until 1997. During this time, they were responsible for the design, implementation, and support of computer networks, email and calendar services, and computer security measures. From 1998 to 2008, Greg worked as an IT Applications Manager at APS, leading a team in the development and support of energy accounting and energy management system applications. Greg also served as the IT Infrastructure Manager, overseeing the exploration and implementation of emerging technologies. Greg then joined CVS Caremark Corporation as an IS Manager for a brief period in 2011 before moving on to Western Area Power Administration (WAPA). At WAPA, they held various roles, including SCADA Manager, IT Manager, and Vice President IT - Infrastructure. In these positions, they led teams in the support of SCADA systems, infrastructure management, and vulnerability programs. Greg has a proven track record of successfully completing audits, implementing system upgrades, and driving process improvements.

Greg Hansen earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science with a specialization in Communications Engineering, Power Systems, and Semiconductors from Arizona State University. Greg completed their undergraduate studies from 1979 to 1986. Additionally, they obtained certifications such as the Strategic Leaders Program: Vision, Strategy, and Managing the Organization to Drive Results from Michigan Ross School of Business Executive Education in November 2022. Greg also obtained another certification titled The Positive Leader: Deep Change and Organizational Transformation from the same institution in 2022.
