Michael Smith has a diverse work experience in the education sector. Michael currently holds the position of Chief Operations Officer at West Hardin CCISD since July 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Finance and Operations at the same organization from June 2020 to July 2021.

Before joining West Hardin CCISD, Michael worked as a Principal at West Hardin High School from July 2017 to June 2020. Additionally, they held the position of Principal at Shepherd Independent School District from February 2016 to July 2017.

Michael started their career in the Beaumont Independent School District, where they worked as an Assistant Principal from August 2013 to February 2016. Michael began their journey in education as a Teacher in the same district from January 2006 to May 2013. Prior to becoming a teacher, they served as a Paraprofessional from August 2002 to May 2005.

Michael obtained a Master of Education (MEd) in Educational Leadership and Administration from Lamar University during 2008-2010, and a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in General Studies from Lamar University in 2002-2005. Michael also completed Basic Classes in General Studies at Lee College in 2001-2002. Additionally, they hold a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Lamar University.
