The Role

Wessex Internet are seeking experienced and qualified Civils Operative Team Leaders to join our growing Town Build Team. We are seeking applicants who currently have relevant experience of excavations, repairs and reinstatements of draw rope on telecoms infrastructure, as well as installing of ducting, chambers and street cabinets.

The successful applicant will need to have the relevant tickets and qualifications including a valid SWQR card with units 1-4, excavator tickets, SA001, SA002 and NRWSA sign, light & guarding. A NRSWA supervisor qualification would also be advantageous. Other civil and Openreach accreditations would also be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Reporting into our Town Build Supervisor/Foreman. You will be leading our Town Build Gangs

  • Provide new installation and repair of network duct for associated customer connections

  • Clear blockages in the highway and reinstate to industry standard

  • Be competent in the use of stihl saws, wacker plates, trench compactor and hold the correct certification to complete the works

  • Install new draw rope and drop cable to customer’s connection point following installation/repair of duct works

  • Complete appropriate paperwork for your daily work i.e. risk assessments, plant sheets and/or van sheets

  • To treat internal and external customers with respect and provide support at all times

  • Ensure compliance with all current client processes and procedures

  • To be responsible for the company assets & plant assigned to you for the purpose of performing your duties

Requirements

  • Must have a good knowledge of sign/lighting and guarding (NRWSA)

  • SA001 & SA002

  • Excavator tickets

  • Streetwork tickets/ experience

  • Experience installing ducting and chamber

  • Experience of risk assessment and hazard identification and a strong focus on health and safety requirements and responsibilities

  • Experience in a similar operational or engineering environment within the telecommunications industry

  • Proven skills in street works with industry recognised qualifications

  • Hold a full UK driving licence

Salary: £37,000 - £39,000 per annum, depending on experience (based on 40 hour week, plus additional hours at the agreed hourly rate plus a time and a half for weekend working – optional)

Role Type: Full Time/Permanent

Hours: Monday to Friday, based on 40 hours per week, plus additional overtime

Location: Field Based, Nr Blandford Forum, Dorset 

Holiday: 25 days plus bank holidays
