Job Responsibilities
Cost Estimation: Analyze project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop comprehensive and precise cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related expenses.
Site Visits: Conduct on-site visits to assess project scope, potential challenges, and other factors that could impact cost estimates. Gather accurate information for more informed estimations.
Supplier/Subcontractor Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotes and pricing for materials and services, ensuring up-to-date market rates are used in cost calculations.
Bid Preparation: Prepare and assemble bid proposals, incorporating detailed breakdowns of costs, projected timelines, and other pertinent information to create competitive bids aligned with project goals.
Data Analysis: Utilize historical project data, industry benchmarks, and market trends to enhance the accuracy of cost estimates and to identify potential cost-saving opportunities.
Communication: Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors, to address inquiries, provide clarifications, and ensure seamless project coordination.
Budget Management: Assist in the development and management of project budgets, providing input on cost-related matters throughout the project lifecycle.
Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry advancements, construction techniques, and new materials to ensure the application of the latest knowledge in estimating practices.
Risk Assessment: Identify and analyze potential risks that could impact project costs, providing recommendations to mitigate these risks during the estimation process.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized records of cost estimates, bid documentation, and related correspondence.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Proven experience as a Construction Estimator, demonstrating a track record of accurate and competitive cost estimates.
Proficiency in using construction estimating software and tools.
Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across various teams.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Problem-solving skills to identify cost-effective solutions.
