Nathaniel Powning is a seasoned technology professional and sailing instructor with extensive experience in software engineering, systems architecture, and cloud solutions. Currently serving as a Staff Software Engineer at Weedmaps since May 2023, Nathaniel has previously held positions at Vesta from January 2009 to April 2023, where responsibilities included roles such as DevOps Engineer, Software Architect, and Senior Cloud Architect, focusing on automating processes and improving SaaS platforms. Prior experience includes roles in database administration, IT management, and systems administration at various companies from the late 1990s to the late 2000s, complemented by maritime expertise as a Keelboat Sailing Instructor and First Mate on a luxury yacht. Nathaniel holds multiple certifications including a 50 ton Master from the US Coast Guard.
