Sharmelle Winsett has over 25 years of work experience in various roles. Sharmelle is currently the Vice President of Development and Strategic Partnerships at WeCode KC, where they are responsible for fundraising, strategic planning, and corporate partnerships. Before that, they served as the Director of Development and Strategic Partnerships at KC Scholars, where they focused on increasing access to postsecondary education and employment in the Kansas City area. Prior to that, Sharmelle worked at The Bluford Healthcare Leadership Institute as a Director and Strategic Advisor, where they collaborated with the CEO on strategy, managed summer cohort programming, and created grant content. Sharmelle also has experience as an entrepreneur, marketing strategist, and educator at Winsett Consulting, where they developed creative solutions for businesses and conducted marketing strategy. Additionally, Sharmelle has a background in sales, having worked as a Sales Consultant at Novartis and a Sales Representative at Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson. Throughout their career, they have received recognition for their sales performance and product growth.

Sharmelle Winsett received their Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication/Media Studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1997. In 2021, they completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Marketing at the University of Missouri Kansas City, a program they started in 2019.
