Stavros Keppas

Head Of Weather R&d - Meteorologist at WeatherXM

Stavros Keppas has a diverse work experience that spans over a decade. Stavros currently holds the role of Lead Meteorologist at WeatherXM, where they have been working since September 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Meteorologist at WeatherXM from November 2021 to September 2022.

Before joining WeatherXM, Stavros worked as a Scientific Researcher at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) starting from May 2019. Prior to this, they worked as an Administrator and weather forecaster at Northmeteo.gr from January 2010.

Stavros also gained experience as a Weather Forecaster/Presenter at Real FM 107.1 from September 2020 to July 2022. Stavros has a background in research, having conducted laboratory demonstrations and research as a PhD student at The University of Manchester, starting from September 2014 and ending in May 2019. During their time at The University of Manchester, they were also involved in the ICE-D project in Cape Verde, which focused on aircraft probes and measuring cloud microphysical properties.

Stavros started their career as a Researcher at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in August 2011. Prior to that, they had practical training as a Weather Forecaster - Trainee at the Meteorological Applications Centre - Hellenic Agricultural Insurance Organization in April and May 2011. Stavros gained early experience as a lab assistant at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki from April to June 2009.

Stavros Keppas completed their education in a chronological manner. Stavros first attended Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) from 2005 to 2008, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Geology/Earth Science, General. Following this, they pursued higher education at the same institution from 2009 to 2012 and acquired a Master's degree in Meteorology, Climatology and Atmospheric Environment. Finally, Keppas attended The University of Manchester from 2014 to 2019, earning a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree with a focus on Linking remote sensing and in-situ measurements of cloud properties.
