Katy Downton

Training Partner at isla

Katy Downton is a highly experienced professional in theatre production and education, currently serving as a Senior Lecturer in Theatre Production at Guildford School of Acting since February 2019 and as a Fellow at the University of Surrey's Institute for Sustainability since May 2023. Additionally, Katy has been a Training Partner at isla since September 2022 and has worked as a Freelance Set Dresser and Prop Maker for Partridge Events Ltd since May 2003. Previous roles include Assessor/Trainer at Lewisham Southwark College and Assessor with Creative & Cultural Skills, where Katy managed apprenticeships in Technical Theatre and Live Events. Katy's extensive background also includes various freelance roles in set construction and design as well as teaching set design and scenic painting at several institutions. Educational qualifications comprise a Master's Degree in Higher Education from the University of Surrey, a BA (Hons) in Prop Making/Set Painting from Rose Bruford College, and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from the University of West London.
