Derrick Anderson has a distinguished career in law enforcement and public service spanning several decades. Currently serving as Deputy Sheriff Captain at Wayne County Sheriff Office since November 2012, Derrick previously held the role of Executive Assistant with the Michigan Department of Attorney General from January 2019 to December 2022. Derrick's earlier experience includes serving as a Recipient Rights Investigator at the Detroit Wayne County Community Mental Health Agency from January 2008 to January 2017, and as Deputy Sheriff Investigator at Wayne County Sheriff Office from June 2003 to January 2007. Derrick's law enforcement career began at the Detroit Police Department 911, where a tenure as Police Sergeant lasted from January 1974 to June 2003.
