Kaifei Chen is currently a Tech Lead Manager and Staff Software Engineer on the Planner Team at Waymo, a position held since July 2018. Previously, Kaifei was a Graduate Student Researcher at UC Berkeley from August 2012 to May 2018, where guidance was provided by Prof. Randy H, and served as a Graduate Student Instructor for two courses—CS162: Operating Systems and Systems Programming under Prof. David Culler, and EE122: Introduction to Communication Networks under Prof. Sylvia Ratnasamy. Additional experience includes research internships at Microsoft and Microsoft Research Asia, and a visiting scholar role at Carnegie Mellon University Silicon Valley, where a project on acoustic-based passive indoor localization was developed under the supervision of Prof. Pei Zhang. Kaifei holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Technology from the University of Science and Technology of China.
