Chao-Yeh Chen is an experienced technology leader and software engineer currently serving as a Tech Lead and Staff Software Engineer at Waymo since February 2020, focusing on image-lidar-text multi-modality large language models for autonomous driving. Prior to that role, Chao-Yeh held positions at Google from June 2016 to February 2020, including Senior Software Engineer, where responsibilities involved deep learning model training for computer vision and embedding models for Google image search. Chao-Yeh's academic background includes a PhD in Computer Science and an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, and a BS in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from National Chiao Tung University. Additional experience includes serving as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas and a Summer Research Intern at NEC Laboratories America, where contributions involved advancements in scene understanding for autonomous driving systems.
