Arend Koenes has extensive experience in legal and regulatory roles within various organizations. Currently serving as a member of the College of Chairs for the Appeals Committee at the Raad voor Accreditatie since September 2021, Koenes has been a team leader for Legal Affairs at the Inspectie Leefomgeving en Transport since March 2006. Additionally, Koenes contributes as a member of the Appeals Committees for both Waterschap Noorderzijlvest and Waterschap Hunze en Aa's since January 2019. As a part-time lecturer at the Rijksuniversiteit Groningen since July 2011, Koenes specializes in Administrative Law and Governance. Freelance teaching roles in environmental law at Bestuursacademie Nederland commenced in May 2009. Previous positions include leadership roles in environmental and building departments at the Gemeente Delfzijl and Gemeente Scheemda, along with experience as a legal policy advisor at the Gemeente Assen. Arend Koenes holds a master’s degree in Law from the University of Groningen, completed between 1987 and 1993.
