Cassandra D. Harmon Higgins has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Cassandra D. began their career in 1998 as a Grant Program Specialist at the U.S. Department of Justice. Cassandra D. then worked at Legal Services of Southcentral Michigan (LSSCM), where they served as a Law Clerk and later as an Attorney and Coordinator of the Access to Justice Center.
In 2005, they joined Ramey & Associates, P.C. as an Attorney before moving on to the Michigan American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 25, where they worked as an In-house Counsel from 2007 to 2012.
Cassandra D. then transitioned to Howell Public Schools, taking on the role of Executive Director of Labor Relations & Personnel from 2012 to 2015. During their tenure there, they also briefly served as Interim Superintendent in late 2014.

Finally, from 2000 to 2004, Cassandra attended the Western Michigan University Cooley Law School, where they acquired a Juris Doctorate degree in Law.
