Kwame Oppong Hackman is a Senior Scientist and Regional Coordinator for Land Use, Land Cover, and Land Degradation at WASCAL, with experience in research, student mentorship, project management, and the development of climate and environmental services since February 2020. Previously, Kwame served as a Scientist specializing in GIS and Remote Sensing, leading multiple projects on sustainable land management in West Africa. With academic involvement as a Lecturer at the University of Energy and Natural Resources, currently on leave, Kwame has also worked as a Chief Data Scientist at SyeComp, contributing to mobile application development, and held research and teaching positions with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research in Ghana and the Ghana Education Service. Kwame holds a PhD in Ecology from Tsinghua University, an MSc in GIS and Environmental Modelling from the University of Hull, a postgraduate diploma in Mathematical Sciences from the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences, and a BSc in Mathematics from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
