Scott Townsend has a diverse and extensive work experience in the legal field, particularly in the biotech and life sciences industries. Scott currently holds the position of Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs and Chief Corporate Counsel at Voyager Therapeutics, Inc. since September 2019.

In addition to their current role, Scott also serves as a Board Member for MAYDOG THE MAYNARD DOG OWNERS GROUP INC since 2022, where their term will end in April 2023.

Prior to their current positions, Scott founded and managed the External GC Law Group from 2009 to 2019, where they provided legal advisory services to various biotech and life science companies. Scott has also held significant positions at other companies including AMAG Pharmaceuticals and Cornerstone Therapeutics Inc., where they served as General Counsel and Senior Vice President of Legal Affairs.

Before transitioning to the corporate sector, Scott gained expertise and experience at Am Law 20 law firms such as WilmerHale, Kilpatrick Stockton, and Goodwin Procter LLP, where they held roles as Junior Partner, Associate Attorney, and Associate Attorney respectively.

Scott Townsend attended Bowdoin College from 1985 to 1989, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Government. Scott then completed their legal education at the University of Virginia School of Law from 1994 to 1997, earning a Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
