Born into a military family, Rev. Monica L. Spencer resides in Columbus, Georgia. For over 20 years she has served as a Pastor in the African Methodist Episcopal (AME) Church in Virginia, Georgia, and Jamaica, West Indies. Monica has worked extensively with faith communities around social justice issues such as racial justice, health disparities, homelessness, gender equity, sustainability, and food insecurity. Previously, Monica worked with nonpartisan voter registration and get-out-the-vote initiatives in Columbus during the 2020-2021 election cycles. She also has worked as the Columbus Liaison with the Georgia Strategy Team of the Multifaith Initiative to End Mass Incarceration, with several other nonprofit organizations, and as a university administrator and adjunct faculty member. Monica received her B.A. in Social Work from Virginia State University and received a Master of Divinity and Doctorate of Ministry from the Samuel DeWitt Proctor School of Theology of Virginia Union University.
