Andrea Thomas has a range of work experience in the scientific and medical fields. Andrea currently works at Vor Biopharma as an Associate Scientist II in the Discovery and Molecular Engineering department. Andrea'srole involves utilizing CRISPR/Cas9 genome engineering techniques to advance the company's proprietary platform focused on Hematopoietic Stem Cell biology, genome engineering, and CAR-T Cells. Andrea collaborates with various teams to support in vivo model studies, design molecular libraries, and present scientific findings. Andrea has also worked at BioReference Laboratories as a Molecular Medical Laboratory Technologist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist, where they specialized in SARS-CoV-2 and STI testing. Prior to that, they were a Strategic Communications Consultant at Northeastern University and an Undergraduate Student Researcher at Northeastern University College of Science. Andrea has also gained experience as a Medical Assistant/Scribe at Hackensack Meridian Health and as a Research Assistant at Columbia University Irving Medical Center's Center for Craniofacial Regeneration. Additionally, Andrea was a Student Research Fellow in Cancer Cell Biology at Bergen County Academies.
Andrea Thomas completed their high school education at the Academy for the Advancement of Science and Technology at Bergen County Academies from 2011 to 2015, earning their high school diploma. Andrea then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at Northeastern University from 2015 to 2019. In May 2020, Andrea obtained their Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry (B.S. Biochemistry) certification from Northeastern University.
